The weird thing is that this is not 2 photos stitched together. Sometimes temples invest their year-end extra-budget in a new staircase. Usually the old stairs are then cordoned off and revered, but not so at Zuisenji.

James, nice photo; I recognized those stairs immediately, so was just a bit disappointed that you didn`t leave room for a guess.

Sorry, didn't imagine that either of my readers would have known of that particular view, just down the road from our house! Jules gets the photo credit of course.

I always take the old stairs up, like you in the photo, but usually take a side way out (and occasionally the newer stairs).

You`re blessed to be able to live in Kamakura!

Oh we have never dared go through the cemetery.

I don't think we'd have lasted long in Japan had we not found somewhere nice to live.
